Are my images uploaded when I convert them?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your images stay on your device and are never sent to or stored on our server.
Why does the conversion take a while?
AVIF uses AV1 compression, which is heavy to encode. Doing it in the browser is slower than a plain format change — a large image can take several seconds. The much smaller result is the trade-off.
Does AVIF keep the PNG transparency?
Yes. AVIF supports transparency, so a transparent PNG background stays transparent in the AVIF.
Do all browsers support AVIF?
Every current browser displays AVIF. Some older software doesn't, so keep a PNG copy if you need maximum compatibility.
