JPG to AVIF

AVIF is a modern image format that packs the same photo into a much smaller file than JPG, so pages load faster and score better on Core Web Vitals. Convert your JPGs to AVIF right in your browser — nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored.

Drag & drop JPG images here, or click to chooseJPG images, up to 200 MB each — converted in your browser

Your images are converted in your browser and never uploaded. Nothing is stored.

AVIF encoding takes longer than a regular conversion — that's normal.

How it works

  1. 1

Add one JPG or a whole batch

  2. 2

Each is encoded to AVIF in your browser — this takes longer than a normal conversion

  3. 3

Download each AVIF, or all of them as a ZIP

Why choose us

  • Private by design — your images are converted in the browser and never uploaded to a server
  • AVIF is often 30–50% smaller than JPG at the same quality — lighter pages and better Core Web Vitals
  • Convert a whole batch at once and download them together as a ZIP
  • Free, no sign-up, no watermark

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded when I convert them?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your images stay on your device and are never sent to or stored on our server.

Why does the conversion take a while?

AVIF uses AV1 compression, which is heavy to encode. Doing it in the browser is slower than a plain format change — a large photo can take several seconds. The much smaller result is the trade-off.

How much smaller will the AVIF be?

AVIF is usually 30–50% smaller than the same JPG at a similar quality, though it depends on the image — detailed photos benefit the most.

Do all browsers support AVIF?

Every current browser displays AVIF. Some older software doesn't, so keep a JPG copy if you need maximum compatibility.

Is converting JPG to AVIF free?

Yes — completely free, with no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
